Book of Empathy

Chapter II
1. To have True Empathic ability does not make you, what some would call, a bleeding heart liberal;
2. But I suppose it is all a matter of perspective;
3. If you are a senior member of the Military Industrial Complex and believe that it is a great thing when thousands of people die just so that you can buy yourself another Mercedes Benz or Bulgari watch, then I suppose, to that person, almost anybody is a bleeding heart liberal.
4. But one with True Empathic ability is not automatically a blubbering mess that cannot see objectively because they feel too deeply.
5. Indeed, it could be suggested that very few with True Empathic ability fall into that category.
6. To feel deeply and to understand, is to understand greater than just one point of view; it is to truly feel all points of view;
7. And perhaps what a True Empathic feels could not be called objectivity, but a True Empathic will avoid subjectivity far more than those who do not have the ability.
8. To be able to understand, such as a person with True Empathic ability does, should be the goal of everybody, should it not?
9. If to be able to understand people and situations as they really are, rather than just the imagining of them, the imagining of them always leading to more difficulties, if that makes one a bleeding heart liberal, then perhaps that should be everybody's goal.
10. To understand people or situations in their entirety does not automatically lead to the desire to help or make it better.
11. An individual with True Empathic ability understands not only that which can be seen by the majority, or even only that which can be seen by the reasonably intuitive; they see the entire picture.
12. To help a person or not is not as simple as, a person is in trouble and needs help to get out of it.
13. One with True Empathic ability can instantly see if the situation is self-inflicted, if the person constantly puts themselves in such situations, in how much real danger they are in, on whether they will learn a lesson from the experience, on whether they will do it again a dozen times over, on whether the trouble they get themselves into escalates with each escape, on whether it is good for them and good for others if they are helped, and a dozen other considerations.
14. They will feel all of this and then decide what is the prudent course of action; to give them advice that will help, give them advice that will make things worse, to take action that will help, to take action that will make things worse or to choose not to help or advise them at all.
15. One with True Empathic ability may be more pre-disposed to want to help an individual or a situation than most, but it is only because of that deeper understanding,
16. And a desire to help does not automatically mean the abdication of all the other faculties an individual is blessed with, which for one with True Empathic ability, grows considerably faster and with more scope than most.
17. In the bigger picture, the bigger picture with all the wars and people dying of hunger around the world, a deeper understanding leads to a deeper understanding of how to solve these issues in such a way that people will accept them, and most importantly, so that those who make the decisions will accept them.
18. This is the highest application and value of True Empathic ability, and this is how it will exert its influence on the world.
19. If in solving our problems, we can give those in power what they want at the same time, we are going to solve our problems.
20. True Empathic ability and True Intellect are very close cousins, but their key difference, that of conscious intent, make it very difficult to bring them together in the one individual,
21. But a time will come when they do come together in the one person, and when they do, everything will change;
22. Not overnight, and the greater majority will not even notice the change.
23. For like the King in Shakespeare's play, who will notice the change when it is disguised in everyday clothes so that none can recognize it?
