21st Century Testament Extracts
Book of People II

Chapter I
1. Our problems will never be solved by those in charge because they are of the belief, a belief that is only half correct, that a large scale societal and therefore power structure realignment would be necessary.
2. Nobody will willingly make changes that will negatively impact their personal position,
3. And this is doubly true for those who have any level of power.
4. That millions of people would be saved from death and billions would see their standard of living greatly increased means nothing to the people who make the decisions for us in this world, in reality,
5. And posturing without affecting action does not make concern.
6. As a nineteenth century writer, Jane Austen, once said, "how horrible it is to have so many people killed, and what a blessing that one cares for none".
7. Of course the knowledge that we can actually solve all of our problems is only resident in less than ten percent of our politicians.
8. Most people cannot apprehend how such changes can be made in the real world and politicians are just people.
9. As a general rule people don't like change even if it would save millions of people;
10. The maintenance of our individual comfort zones is paramount, even when it is at the expense of millions of lives.
11. But nobody likes it to be stated so nakedly, and so such a naked display of our failings never stays on centre stage for too long, and it is removed long before anything of any substance is done.
12. We must not rely on politicians as a generic group to change things.
13. Power changes things and we mistakenly believe that this power resides in the hands of our politicians.
14. Power does not owe it is owed,
15. And the greater majority of politicians owe, as much for the past as for the future.
16. If you wish to change things, first see where the power is, see who is owed, and you will have taken the first step on the road of knowledge in the Wisdom of Change.
17. But it is a highway between cities and its attainment in the twentieth century is as rare as Tritium.
